A Spring to Remember: Recapping the Tulip Season at Happy Valley Farms

0 min read

This year, Happy Valley Farms became a landscape of color as thousands of tulips opened across our fields. It was a joy to welcome families, couples, and friends back to the property to share in the simple, quiet beauty of a North Georgia spring.

The Main Event: Rows of Color and U-Pick Tulips

The tulips were the centerpiece of the season. We saw rows of coral, gold, and soft pink that created a natural backdrop for visitors. Many of our guests arrived in their spring best for photos, but the real heart of the experience was the U-pick field.

There is a slow, meditative quality to wandering the rows and choosing specific stems for a personal bouquet. At two dollars per stem, these flowers became small, fragrant reminders of a day spent outdoors. Whether it was a solo walk through the blooms or a shared moment between friends, the fields offered a much-needed breath of fresh air.

Highland Cows, Kites, and Wagon Rides

Beyond the floral rows, the farm was full of activity. The spring breeze provided the perfect conditions for kite flying, an unhurried pastime that felt right at home against our rolling hills.

Our shaggy Highland cows remained a favorite for guests. Their calm presence adds a rustic, grounded feel to the property that visitors love to capture in photos. To see more of the farm, many families hopped on our wagon rides for a slow-paced tour of the grounds, offering a wider view of the blooming valley and the historic structures that make this place unique.

Art in the Valley: Plein Air with Alan Shuptrine

One of the most refined moments of the season was our Plein Air workshop on March 29th. The farm transitioned into a quiet outdoor studio as local artist Alan Shuptrine led a masterclass among the tulips.

Participants spent the afternoon with a glass of wine and a canvas, focusing on the way the light hit the petals. It was a beautiful way to slow down and appreciate the landscape from an artistic perspective. These workshops are a core part of what we do here: connecting people to the land through curated, meaningful experiences.

Looking Ahead

We are grateful to everyone who spent a part of their spring with us. While the tulips have finished their bloom to make way for the next harvest, the energy of the season stays with us. We invite you to join us as the farm transitions into the warmer months and new events begin to take shape.

Whether you came for a portrait, a painting session, or a simple walk through the grass, thank you for being part of the Happy Valley Farms story.
